Working Paper 16 Urban Water Supply and Sanitation in Andhra Pradesh
The paper brings out the gaps between norms and practices in urban water supply systems in Andhra Pradesh and highlights the issues related to adequacy and equitable distribution. Through a systematic analysis of situation on the ground, this paper also identifies the causative factors (such as low tariff rates, inefficient financial management systems, etc) behind the low level of economic viability of water supply systems in urban centres of the state. While analysing the situation of water supply in urban settlements, sufficient emphasis is also made on sanitation and hygiene facilities for poor in urban settlements of Andhra Pradesh.
