Research Reaching Villages

Any action research project generates new knowledge by consolidating experiences from communities and other partners. Generally the reports of such projects are not shared back with villagers and other partners, who would have significantly contributed to the knowledge generation process. WASHCost (India) Project thought differently. A systematic effort was made to share the research findings with those sample villages, where the field work was conducted for understanding various dimensions of WASH sector. WASSAN, Hyderabad compiled village narratives of each village and facilitated this exercises at village level. These village level sharing exercises eventually turned out to be a triggering exercise that focused on the key messages related to improved sanitation, as the general sanitation levels were poor in several sample villages. This report captured the process of conducting this exercise and reflections of communities in this sharing experience.
